What Is a
VRV Air Conditioning System?

VRV (or variable refrigerant volume) air conditioning system delivers just enough refrigerant to each connected indoor air conditioning unit to meet its cooling needs. Unlike other systems, a VRV system will detect when a room is no longer occupied and will stop sending that indoor unit refrigerant. As a result, this lowers its emissions and operating costs.

VRV air conditioning systems are large scale and can have up to sixty-four indoor units connected to just one outdoor unit, making them perfect for commercial buildings, offices and large apartment blocks. You can customise the location and layouts of the indoor units to best suit your location.

VRV air conditioning is one of the cheapest and most efficient ways to connect many indoor units to a single outdoor unit. This is why it is so popular among homes and businesses across Australia.

If this sounds like the custom air conditioning system you’ve been looking for, don’t keep waiting on it! Alliance Climate Control can install your custom VRV air conditioning system. Give us a call today to get the ball rolling.

How Does
VRV Air Conditioning Work?

VRV works by taking refrigerant in a compressor and sending it up through a range of coils in the outdoor unit. The refrigerant is turned from a vapour into a liquid through these coils.

From there, the refrigerant is sent to an external unit, which is connected to each indoor unit. This external unit contains a gas/liquid separator. This is used to separate any liquid and gas remaining within the refrigerant so that it can then be subcooled.

This is done to ensure that when the refrigerant is sent to the various indoor units, the refrigerant is still 100% liquid once it goes through the thermal expansion device.

Once the refrigerant returns from the various indoor units, it comes back in a mostly vaporous form. As it returns through the external unit, it’s stored in an accumulator. This accumulator acts as both a storage system for the vaporous refrigerant and a buffer to ensure any refrigerant still in liquid form is kept aside and doesn’t damage the interior components of the outdoor unit. From there, the refrigerant is stored until it’s needed again.

What Are the Benefits of
VRV Air Conditioning?

VRV air conditioning is a sophisticated system that can run over fifty indoor air conditioning units from a single outdoor unit. But the sheer size of a VRV air conditioning system isn’t the only attractive feature of the system. Many benefits come with installing a VRV system in your offices, apartment block or commercial building.

Here are some of the key advantages of VRV air conditioning:

Automatic Comfort

A VRV air conditioning system will automatically adjust the interior temperature of each room to a comfortable level. If a room is too hot or cold, the system will use a tiny amount of energy to send enough refrigerant to that unit to maintain a comfortable temperature in that room.

Additionally, this feature will automatically reduce the humidity in the air. The way the system can automatically adjust so many rooms at once to maintain a comfortable level is one of the biggest selling points for a VRV air conditioning system.

Cooling and Heating Provided

Unlike other air conditioning systems, a VRV air conditioning system can provide cooling and heating options. This system will passively heat or cool each connected room until it’s at the predetermined, comfortable level. That means no matter how hot or cold it is outside, it’s always going to be perfect in each room.

Silent Air Flow

Because the primary motor of a VRV air conditioning system is outside, it’s almost completely silent; no more noises and vibrations coming from loud indoor units. A VRV system will keep your room cool without disturbing your work or your sleep.

Energy Efficient Design

A VRV air conditioning system runs at a lower capacity for a smaller amount of time throughout the day, making it far more energy-efficient. This system harnesses and uses hot and cold air to regulate a specific indoor temperature. Because it’s harnessing already hot or cold air to maintain a constant temperature, it’s using far less energy than other fans and air conditioners would. Not only does that make it far more energy-efficient, but it’s cheaper to run as well.

Is VRV Air Conditioning
Right for Me?

VRV air conditioning systems are perfect for anyone wanting to maintain a comfortable temperature level in multiple rooms all year long. High comfort and low humidity are what this air conditioning system specialises in. So, if you are looking for a cooling system that produces consistent comfort levels, flexible zoning options and lower energy costs, the VRC air conditioning system is for you.

If you have a small, one-bedroom apartment, a VRV system will not be a great investment. But the more rooms you need cooled, and the more efficient a system you require, the more a VRV system becomes the perfect choice for you.

If you work in an industrial building, large office, hotel, or corporate building, VRV air conditioning may be perfect for you.

VRV Air Conditioning Service

Is VRV Better
Than Multi-Split System Air Conditioning?

VRV Air Conditioning Installation

VRV air conditioning is better than multi-split air conditioning in larger buildings with many rooms. VRV air conditioning works similarly to multi-split air conditioning. Both connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor compressor. The first major difference between the two types is that VRV air conditioning is built for large-scale buildings like large offices and hospitals, while multi-split systems are more commonly found in large homes and small office blocks.

VRV air conditioning systems are also incredibly quiet, so you won’t be disturbed during function. In addition, it will be able to detect and determine heat loads in different rooms and adjust accordingly. That means no more accidentally sweltering rooms, you’ll have the perfect temperature in every room, every time.

The other difference is that a multi-split gives you greater control over the temperature in each room, while a VRV system works best to maintain a constant, comfortable temperature and humidity across multiple rooms. If you are looking for an air conditioning system for a large home, a multi-split system may be better, while a VRV system will be far more effective in a large office block

Is VRV Better Than
Ducted Air Conditioning?

VRV and ducted air conditioning are often compared because they both allow for independent cooling for each room it is connected to. However, there are marked differences between VRV and ducted air conditioning.

In most situations, VRV air conditioning is better than ducted air conditioning. Here at Alliance Climate Control, we have worked with both systems for decades and are confident in recommending VRV air conditioners to our clients.

VRV air conditioners can independently cool or heat rooms the same way ducted systems can, without the need for the ductwork itself. In addition, VRV systems can connect to different indoor units, making it far more flexible than traditional ducted systems. VRV air conditioning systems also have the ability to heat and cool at the same time, giving VRV owners unmatched customisation and flexibility with their indoor climate control.

As one of the leading names in VRV air conditioner installations, the team here at Alliance Climate Control are proud to provide efficient VRV cooling to homes across the state. We have decades of experience performing VRV air conditioner installations in Sydney, and we will have no trouble installing yours.

Liam was fantastic. Very friendly, clean and job well done. Highly recommend Alliance. Always such a good service. Have used many times and will continue to. Keely also super friendly and helpful giving me eta so I wasn’t waiting.
Amith S.
The service and follow up was prompt and as promised... We had a 9 year old AC unit which had stopped cooling and making unsteady noises... The initial review and assessment to change the unit foundations which was rotting and a service was point on. The service person was prompt, very kind and mindful despite the difficult access to the roof unit. Have to say, the only issue I'd have was the initial inspector and quote pushing us to replace the unit for double the service price which in itself was a bit pricey, but in these days a full days of work it's expected. All in all an happy customer, as happy to pay a premium for a job well done! Great service - definitely will use again.

Explanation and co-operation from go to woe. Couldn't be happier 😁

Replacing old gas heating system with new heating and cooling system. I was impressed with Jake’s knowledge when he came out to quote the job, then the Installation team was very experienced and professional, good communication and provided onsite solution. I am very happy with the result, thanks to Vy, Lyn, Eric & Peter.
Eric T.
We got AC for our North Bondi house and could not be happier.
From initial conversation Aysa came up with a very genius plan for placement installation of the AC. Installation team Gokhan, Louise and Charles was so helpful and made the idea happened
They were so clean, tidy up everything and super knowledgeable. They did a schmick job.
Many thanks guys 🙏🏻
Allan L.
Happy with the work done, clean up and respect for our property by Ivan and his partner (sorry name forgotten). Follow up plaster work was also done well and Liam is to be commended.
Ugur O.
Charles and Arron did a great job installing the pendant and outdoor lights. Took great care to leave everything perfect and clean.
Simon van W.
We installed our air conditioning 5 years ago. The installation was perfect and we have had no issues in all the time we have owned the system. We had to get them back because one unit was leaking water. They were prompt to attend to the problem, admitted that some of the problem was their issue and they would cover the fix themselves.

They owned the problem. They are always very polite. The engineers they send out are highly professional, leave no mess, take off their boots and are good at communication with the client.

I've recommended them to many people..
Tam T.
We have asked Alliance Climate Control to come and service our 2 air con systems (one central and the other, a stand slone unit). Andres - a young trademan came ontime with prior warning and did a really good job for us. We also had Kyle (?) coming later to fix a condensate leakage issue which he also did well, on time with prior phone call. We then signed a 3-year maintenance contrsct with ACC after our good experience with their workers. We strongly recommend this group, having professional and friendly staff working for the company. Thank you ACC
Ian B.
We were delighted with our experience with the Alliance team of Tommy, Nick and Luan. They went about the job professionally, expertly and with no fuss. They left the job site as they found it, perfectly clean. What a wonderful example of hard working young men and a credit to your organisation. All contacts with these young men were courteous and polite. Well done Alliance.
Angus H.
Connor and Steven completed some drainage works and also a service of three of my AC units today. They were friendly, professional and communicated excellently. Highly recommend these guys!
Christopher B.
Alliance team on time and efficient. Thanks Shabi and Louis for handling both the callouts so well.
Elliott Y.
The team Kristin, Aaron P, John M, and Chris D were as good as it gets. From my initial request with Adrian, confirmation appointment with Kristin to the actual work undertaken was all a pleasure. For me as a customer I was again impressed with their expertise and their communication. There's a lot to be said about Alliance, all good!
David B.
Very happy with the product and the installation, very professional and efficient. Highly recommend.
Clemence W.
We had Shabi, Louis and Nicolas install our aircon right before the heat wave this week. They worked really hard and we love the result.
Kathryn T.
A big thank you to the whole team for a professional and very clean job, can’t thank them enough. They fixed up our ducted system and installed a new system at the back of our house! Big shout out to Andre G for managing the ducted service, and to Gokhan, Veysel, Michael and the electrician Charles for installing the new system. We will now use them for all our servicing.
Sue H.
We were very impressed with all aspects of the installation and replacement of our outdated ducted air conditioning system. The prompt response we got from Jake, who came out to scope the job & provide a quote was very impressive. As was the turnaround from accepting the quote to the installation (3 days). The team who carried out the installation, were terrific & worked tirelessly to get the job done with minimum disruption, which we appreciated as it was a fairly complicated job. We would like to thank each of them, Jonathan, Miguel, Matt, Maisam & Ahmad, they all deserve a shout out. All in all from start to finish it was a great experience & couldn't recommend Alliance highly enough.
Steven K.
Lachlan was professional, punctual and pleasant to deal with
Roger P.
Excellent service from Andre. Thank You.
Cate C.
Service technician polite and efficient
Marcus W.
Job well done, Jason was very clear in the process before hand and also explained everything well when finished.

Update: 3 Dec

Decided to ask ACC to do some straight electrical - powerpoint installs , sconce replacement.

JJ and Aden did a great job: quick, friendly, informative. Really neat job. Cleaned up after themselves and even took the old sconces for disposal.

Happy with the work.

JJ also noticed some switches were out of code in my switchboard and recommended and completed replacements.

So house electrics are a little safer too.

AIR COND INSTALL Review:

Two teams worked on our place:

Andres , Cristian and Qais replaced our ducted system, and Vy, Luan and Maison installed a separate split system where ducted couldn't reach.

Both teams did an excellent job.

Everyone arrived on time, walked us through what was going to be done and were happy to answer any questions. They were friendly and professional. Completed install on time, showed us how the new system worked and made sure we were happy. Cleaned up afterwards too - as promised.

Ducted team worked for two days in some hot conditions, removed old unit and ducting and disposed off. Hassle free for us. Install of new system, ducting and control system was trouble free for us.

Split team did a great job too - gave advice on best position for indoor and outdoor unit, clean efficient install, tidied up after themselves. Really professional.

Great from start to finish.
M E.
Tech was nice polite guy but he did not have the correct filters and wanted to cut some down to fit .. this does not work as cut down filters do not hold their shape so I told the guy not to replace them this time although the cut downs ones that were installed last year were quite clean, they were not in good shape.
Update: the company apologised for not having the correct filters at the time and promptly arranged for the correct units to be installed .. they really do follow up and fix any issue so deserve 5 Stars
Alex K.
Alliance are the best! Garret, Shane and Louis did a fantastic job installing our new AC unit. Protective mats were placed on all floors, they removed all mess and even took away our old unit. Garret ensured we were across the installation process, asked questions when required and also informed us of how to operate the new system. Great job!
Elaine B.
Excellent and professional service from start to finish. Particularly impressed with the team who did the installation. Efficient and careful. Attention to achieving optimum performance from the system much appreciated.
Karen P.
Jake and James were efficient, punctual, clean and courteous. My AC unit is as good as new. I would have no hesitation in recommending Jake and James and I will certainly use Alliance in the future. Thank you guys.
Maria C.
We had our split system air-conditioning installed almost two years ago now (April 2024) and I have been meaning to write a review, because we were really happy with the service and installation, and I have only just got around to it. But that may be good, as I can say that the system works perfectly, and we have had not problems.

We have an inner city terrace, and have over more than a decade got quotes, only to be told that "it is not possible". So, I looked for someone close, who I figured would have experience with our type of dwelling. The quote was very reasonable, the installation went smoothly, and we are very happy.
Tracey H.
Very good service from BJ, James, Errol and Will for our air conditioner installation. Errol and Will were very responsive and flexible during the consultation and booking phases - I felt like their advice was solid and really suited my circumstances. BJ and James were an incredibly professional and efficient installation team - they got it done, cleaned up, and made sure I was across our new aircon. Would recommend.
Kylie B.
Excellent service - on time, friendly and professionally completed the job ( air conditioning & two ceiling fans). Also cleaned up and put furniture back into position.

Thank you to the team who did the work - Shabi, Louis, Peter & JJ.
Also to Will behind the scenes who coordinated the scheduling of this job ( fans added in )
Thanks again
