What Is A Ducted
Air Conditioning System?
Ducted air conditioners are unique in their design when compared to other standard systems. Structured as a series of flexible tubing that connect rooms throughout a building, this network ensures discreet heating and cooling solutions. This is because the air conditioner unit itself is built into the floor or installed in the roof space, making it accessible yet out of sight to maintain the interior design of your home.
Ducted systems provide filtered air to rooms of your choosing, cleaning the sustained airflow of dirt, dust, and other airborne pollutants. The airflow can also be zoned, allowing you to independently heat or cool groups of rooms in your home. This can save you energy and electricity bills as you climate control only the rooms in use.
Many Australians choose to install a ducted AC when they want independent climate zoning and/or they have a large building. Choose energy efficiency and discreet designs with Alliance Climate Control’s exclusive services.

Why Choose a Ducted Air Conditioning System
for Your Home?
Ducted air conditioning is the number one choice for many Sydney homes. It’s a much quieter alternative to the usual systems, while still efficiently circulating clean air throughout your home.
Notable benefits of installing a ducted AC system include:
- Discreet placement in the ceiling space of your home, ensuring your air conditioner doesn't interfere with the design plan of your home
- Air is absorbed, filtered and redistributed throughout the entire house, ensuring an even and clear airflow for every room
- Providing better energy efficiency without being noisy
- Zoning gives you complete climate control over specific rooms, allowing occupants to set their desired temperature without impacting the entire home
- Selective distribution of heated or cooled air in multiple rooms allows you to save more on your energy bills
- Control terminals include features that tailor your AC experience, such as specific climate settings for when you are asleep or out of the house
- The consistent temperature protects your furniture, floors and decor from the damp and heat, increasing their lifespan
- Many systems are Wi-Fi enabled and can connect directly to your phone with an app, so your air con can start cooling your house even before you get home

How Much Does Ducted Reverse Cycle
Air Conditioning Cost?
At Alliance Climate Control, we provide tailored climate solutions for Sydney locals’ needs. This means our ducted air conditioning services, including installation, are also bespoke in costs.
When you book a consultation with our HVAC specialists, we will provide a comprehensive assessment of your home and how a ducted AC will benefit it. This includes mapping out the design of the ducted systems, which AC brand is your preference, and any additional features you want your new unit to offer.
Based on the level of work needed, we will provide a detailed quote and work with you to find a process that fits in your budget. Generally, however, the supply and install cost of ducted systems ranges from $6,000 for a small home up to $25,000 for a large house.
Additional features that may affect the costs of ducted air conditioner installation include:
- The system’s size and power requirements
- Complexity of the installation work to be done
- The AC’s brand and/or model
- The extent of zoning required for multiple rooms
- The necessity of electrical work before installation, such as switchboard upgrades

Types of Ducted Air Conditioning Systems
Available for Installation
Alliance Climate Control takes the time and effort to remain on the cutting-edge of HVAC specialisation. This includes extensive training and research into the latest ducted air conditioning system offerings.
When you utilise our Sydney services, we provide a range of ducted systems to choose from for installation day. Check out some of our offerings below to help make an informed decision on which system is best for you and your home:
Reverse Cycle Ducted Air Conditioning
If you want both heating and cooling features in your air conditioner, a reverse cycle unit will provide these benefits and more. When integrated into ducted systems, different rooms throughout the home can be conveniently heated and cooled as desired with the zoning feature.
Ducted reverse cycle air conditioning is essentially a one-system solution to keep your house at the perfect temperature all year round. It can keep your house cool in summer and warm in winter, ensuring every occupant remains comfortable regardless of the weather outside.
Notable benefits of a reverse cycle heating and cooling system include:
- Year round climate control, including humidity control
- Increased energy efficiency with the addition of room zoning
- The combination of heating and cooling in one system is more cost-effective than installing multiple systems for the same benefit
- Quiet and discreet operations regardless of the level of climate control and power required from the system
Bulkhead Air Conditioning System
Bulkhead air conditioning is a type of ducted air conditioning system that takes the typical discreet approach one step further. These air conditioning systems are built seamlessly into the ceiling and are housed behind long, modern-looking grilles. This ensures only the grilles are visible at any given time, providing a clean and minimal look in your home.
Additionally, with ducts being hidden within the roof space, there’s maximum space saved for your walls and ceilings. Such a compact design is especially useful for a small home or apartment that has limited space.
Other advantages to choosing bulkhead air conditioners are:
- Installation flexibility due to the compact and easily-adjustable design
- Choose from rear or bottom suction opening to adapt to multiple rooms and their unique designs
- Automatic adjustment of fan speeds in the indoor unit to efficiently reach the desired room temperature
- To maintain the high energy efficiency ratio, the system can be set to automatic shut down once an optimal climate has been set
Package Air Conditioning System
Package air conditioning is the iconic air conditioner you’ve likely seen in the movies. As the name implies, these units are the large systems housed entirely in one shell or package, often found installed on building rooftops.
Inside the package is the entire air conditioning system, from the cooling coil to the air filter and compressor. The package is connected to a ductwork system that can be installed throughout your home, with airflow outputs added to targeted rooms.
Package air conditioning ducted systems are popular due to their simplicity. With all of the necessary components held in a single box, it’s easier to locate, install, repair and replace this air conditioning solution.
You may also be interested in this type of AC for the following reasons:
- A stronger airflow than the average split system air conditioning system
- Adaptable to a range of building structures and sizes, especially since the outdoor unit hosts the majority of the components
- One convenient place to provide all necessary air conditioning services, saving time and money
- Simpler installation than standard split system or ducted products
- Space saving with the outdoor unit capable of being installed on the roof or wall of a building, or on the ground next to it

What Our Community
Is Saying About Alliance
From initial conversation Aysa came up with a very genius plan for placement installation of the AC. Installation team Gokhan, Louise and Charles was so helpful and made the idea happened
They were so clean, tidy up everything and super knowledgeable. They did a schmick job.
Many thanks guys 🙏🏻
They owned the problem. They are always very polite. The engineers they send out are highly professional, leave no mess, take off their boots and are good at communication with the client.
I've recommended them to many people..
Decided to ask ACC to do some straight electrical - powerpoint installs , sconce replacement.
JJ and Aden did a great job: quick, friendly, informative. Really neat job. Cleaned up after themselves and even took the old sconces for disposal.
Happy with the work.
JJ also noticed some switches were out of code in my switchboard and recommended and completed replacements.
So house electrics are a little safer too.
AIR COND INSTALL Review:
Two teams worked on our place:
Andres , Cristian and Qais replaced our ducted system, and Vy, Luan and Maison installed a separate split system where ducted couldn't reach.
Both teams did an excellent job.
Everyone arrived on time, walked us through what was going to be done and were happy to answer any questions. They were friendly and professional. Completed install on time, showed us how the new system worked and made sure we were happy. Cleaned up afterwards too - as promised.
Ducted team worked for two days in some hot conditions, removed old unit and ducting and disposed off. Hassle free for us. Install of new system, ducting and control system was trouble free for us.
Split team did a great job too - gave advice on best position for indoor and outdoor unit, clean efficient install, tidied up after themselves. Really professional.
Great from start to finish.
Update: the company apologised for not having the correct filters at the time and promptly arranged for the correct units to be installed .. they really do follow up and fix any issue so deserve 5 Stars
We have an inner city terrace, and have over more than a decade got quotes, only to be told that "it is not possible". So, I looked for someone close, who I figured would have experience with our type of dwelling. The quote was very reasonable, the installation went smoothly, and we are very happy.
Thank you to the team who did the work - Shabi, Louis, Peter & JJ.
Also to Will behind the scenes who coordinated the scheduling of this job ( fans added in )
Thanks again
Kylie

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best ducted air conditioning system on the market?
The best ducted air conditioner on the market is entirely based on your preference and your home’s requirement.
What size do you need?
How much will it cost to run?
What are the initial installation costs?
Our technicians know and understand air conditioning systems from a large variety of brands. We are authorised dealers of many leading air conditioning brands such as Daikin, Actron Air, Fujitsu, Brivis, Mitsubishi and more. This means that our technicians are qualified to assess, plan and install the most suitable ducted air conditioning system for you in your home or business. Plus, we also receive exclusive deals and competitions directly from each brand on all of their ducted air conditioning systems.
Most importantly, we receive regular and specialised training to make sure our installations are picture-perfect and industry leading.
What type of ducted air conditioning system is right for my home?
There are several factors to consider to determine the best air conditioning system that is most suitable for your home.
These includes:
- Your budget
- Functionality of the AC
- Any allergies/respiratory concerns
- The amount of rooms
- The size of the rooms
Our air conditioning technician can provide you with a complimentary, obligation-Upfront Quote to identify the best ducted air conditioning for your home or business. This includes a heat load calculation, space inspection, and efficiency study.
Why do you need to a heat load calculation before my installation quote?
In any room, heat comes from many different sources – computers, machineries, lighting and us, the humans that reside in it. Plus, the sun beaming onto the building, open doors and windows, or areas of leakage in the building can all allow heat to travel into the room. The sum of all these heat sources in Kilowatts tells us the heat load. We use the heat load calculation to identify the air conditioning size needed for your home. The AC’s output must be larger than the heat load/heat gain in your home for the AC to work effetively.
