Testing Experts

If you have a gas heating system, it’s important to know how to keep your home safe from carbon monoxide. As an invisible and odourless gas, carbon monoxide can’t be detected without proper carbon monoxide testing.

A carbon monoxide leak can be deadly, which is why it’s important to have your home tested for CO levels. If you have any type of appliance that burns fuel, it’s important to have a carbon monoxide detector installed, and know who to call for regular carbon monoxide testing.

Carbon monoxide poisoning can cause serious health complications, from flu-like symptoms through to cardiac arrest. If you suspect a carbon monoxide leak, or haven’t had your gas appliances tested recently, you could be at risk.

Here at Alliance Climate Control, we are Sydney’s carbon monoxide experts. We can test your home for CO levels and install a carbon monoxide detector if needed.

What is Carbon Monoxide?

Carbon monoxide is a gas that’s produced by the incomplete burning of fuels such as natural gas, propane, oil, kerosene, coal or wood.

Any gas-powered appliance can produce carbon monoxide (CO) if it is not properly installed or maintained. The most common cause of carbon monoxide in the home is faulty gas appliances, such as heaters, cooktops, covens, fireplaces and hot water systems.

In most cases, these gas appliances are perfectly safe. However, if something goes wrong, it’s critical to catch carbon monoxide build-up as quickly as possible to keep your home safe.

Carbon monoxide build ups in your home can be incredibly hazardous to your health and should be investigated as soon as discovered.

Do All Gas Heaters Produce Carbon Monoxide?

When working properly, modern gas heaters produce a nearly negligible level of carbon monoxide and are perfectly safe in the home

However, improper maintenance and faults can cause gas appliances to leak carbon monoxide into the home, where it can be inhaled. All gas heaters have the potential to cause this problem if a fault develops, and the longer it goes undetected, the greater the risk.

Any gas heater that is installed in your home should be tested at least annually for carbon monoxide emissions. It’s dangerous to ignore carbon monoxide tests, as this gas is odourless and invisible – and a carbon monoxide leak can be deadly before you’re even aware of it.

Because gas heaters can produce carbon monoxide, it is important to have your heating system inspected and serviced every year by a qualified technician. Here at Alliance Climate Control, we are licensed and insured to perform carbon monoxide testing on your gas heater.

Could your gas appliances be causing carbon monoxide build-up? There’s one way to be certain – call us today to perform a carbon monoxide test.

What Causes Carbon Monoxide
In The Home?

Some of the things that can cause carbon monoxide in your home include:

Blocked Chimneys or Flues – A blocked chimney or flue can prevent the exhaust fumes from your gas heater from escaping properly, which can cause carbon monoxide to build up in your home.

Exhaust Pipe Leaks –  A leak in the exhaust pipe can allow carbon monoxide to escape from your gas heater and enter your home. Gas heater leaks can be dangerous and should be fixed as soon as possible. A qualified technician should be called to fix any faults in your gas heater urgently.

Cracked Heat Exchangers – A cracked heat exchanger can allow carbon monoxide to escape from your gas heater and enter your home. Similarly, a dirty or clogged heat exchanger can also cause carbon monoxide to build up in your home. If your gas heater is not properly maintained, it can produce carbon monoxide.

If you have any of these problems with your gas heater, it is important to call a qualified technician to fix them.

Carbon monoxide leaks can be deadly, so it is important to take precautions and have your gas heating inspected and serviced every year.

Here at Alliance Climate Control, we are licensed and qualified to perform carbon monoxide testing on your gas heater. To book an appointment, contact our Sydney-based team today.

Signs You Have A
Carbon Monoxide Leak

Carbon monoxide is invisible and odourless, so it’s difficult to know if you have a carbon monoxide leak in your home. However, there are a few signs that you may have a carbon monoxide leak:

Dizziness – If you are feeling dizzy in your home, especially while your gas heater is on, it’s very possible you have a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide is odourless and colourless so it can be very difficult to detect. If multiple people in your home are feeling dizzy, exit your home and contact an expert immediately.

Gas Heater Flame Discolouration – If the flame in your gas heater is discoloured, it could be a sign of carbon monoxide leakage. A yellow or orange flame is a sign that the fire may be mixing with the carbon monoxide in the air, and you should turn your system off, and contact a technician for urgent testing.

Carbon Monoxide Tester Alerts – Installing a carbon monoxide tester is essential for every home with a gas heater. These machines will automatically detect carbon monoxide in the air and will alert you audibly. Carbon monoxide alarms save lives every year, and it’s always worth installing one.

Visible Black Soot – There should not be visible black soot around your gas heater. If there is, it’s usually a sign of a bigger issue that could lead to carbon monoxide leakage. If you spot this issue, contact a gas heating technician urgently.

Water Leaks – Water or liquid leaking from your gas heater can be a serious sign of damage. If water is able to leak from your system, so can carbon monoxide. If you notice water leaks, the safest option is to contact a local specialist.

If you have any of these signs, it is important to call a qualified technician to inspect your gas heater ASAP.

For the best in carbon monoxide testing in Sydney, look no further than the team at Alliance. We are licensed and insured to perform carbon monoxide testing on your gas heater, so you can be sure that it is safe to use.

What Are The Harmful Effects Of
Carbon Monoxide?

Gas Central Heater

Carbon monoxide is a potentially deadly gas that can cause serious health problems if you are exposed to it. Carbon monoxide is known to cause flu-like symptoms, such as migraines, nausea, and dizziness. It can also cause more serious health problems, such as chest pain, heart attack, and stroke.

If exposed to large amounts of carbon monoxide or exposed for long periods of time, you can experience chest pain and impaired vision. Carbon monoxide can also cause death. That’s why it’s important to have your gas heater inspected by a trained technician if you think you may have a carbon monoxide leak. It’s also essential to have a carbon monoxide detector in your home.

If you start to feel sick or dizzy when you are in your home and you have a gas heater, it may be because of the carbon monoxide in your home. If you have any of these symptoms, it is important to get out of your home and call a doctor.

A carbon monoxide test can be done quickly by a professional to see if you have any carbon monoxide in your home. The test is fast and inexpensive and can help to keep your family safe. Here at Alliance, we offer carbon monoxide testing to ensure that your gas heater is safe to use. For more information, or to book an appointment, call us today.

What Should I Do If I Have A
Carbon Monoxide Leak?

If you have a carbon monoxide leak, you should immediately turn off your gas heater and leave your home. Once it’s turned off, make sure to call a qualified gas technician to come and inspect your gas heater.

Carbon monoxide testing is the only way to be certain whether your heating system is giving off dangerous gases. If there is a positive reading, your technician will also be able to find the source of the leak and repair it.

When your gas heater technician is repairing your gas heater, it is important to stay out of the home. The fumes from the gas heater can be dangerous, and you don’t want to breathe them in. When they fix the leak, you can ask them to test the carbon monoxide levels in your home to ensure it’s safe to return.

A gas heating specialist is also able to install or test your carbon monoxide detector to ensure that it is working properly. A carbon monoxide tester is essential for your safety and the safety of your family – so if you don’t have one, this should be your top priority.

If you need a gas heater specialist to come and take a look at your gas heater, the team at Alliance Climate Control is here to help. We are fully licensed and insured and can help you to keep your family safe if you have a carbon monoxide leak.

We had our old Daikin air con replaced by Yunus, Can, Veysel and Brody. These guys were fantastic. Arrive on time and from that first meet have been great to deal with. Very professional and polite. Throughout the process Yunus explained to me what they will be doing and kept me updated. Their workmanship has been great and have laid drop mats to protect the flooring and cleaned up after themselves. Overall awesome work and a very happy and satisfied customer. Well done to Yunus and his team
