What is a Window Wall Mounted System?
A window wall-mounted system, otherwise known as wall-mounted or box air conditioners, is a simple and convenient way to deliver airflow to any room of your choice. Once installed, this singular unit can provide a comfortable climate to any living space, office, or bedroom.
Designed to be visually unobtrusive and completely self-contained, the window unit comes as a robust steel cabinet. All necessary components are available here for convenient servicing, making installation efficient by requiring one access point.
If the unit is being retrofitted to an existing building, it will generally fit within half the width of a normal window space. If being installed in a new structure, or where permissible to make an aperture in an outside wall, it may be located wherever most suitable.

On the day, we will handle all the hard work that comes with removing and replacing an existing window air conditioning unit. We dispose of the old unit for you and install the latest system right away, providing any necessary work to prepare your home for this new addition.

Repairs
To ensure your window air conditioner provides cooling and heating services throughout the year, don’t hesitate to book a repair appointment. It’s a cost-effective solution for many units only experiencing minor issues, especially when compared to the more costly work of replacement.
When you notice symptoms such as loud noises, bad odours, leakage, or other concerns coming from your AC, you may need repairs. Alliance ensures your system is working at peak performance, assessing critical components functionality and that filtration mediums are free from dust or pollens.
If you want to save more time, money and concerns by maintaining your existing unit, consider a repair appointment.
Cleaning
The values of Alliance Climate Control aren’t just centred around ensuring customer satisfaction and excellent HVAC work. We also pride ourselves on providing environmentally-friendly operations, regardless of the window AC work required.
This can be seen in our approach to professional HVAC cleaning. Our focus is on creating a home that’s air-pollutant-free and has an optimal AC system upon completion. We also happen to do this work with eco-friendly cleaning products tailored to fully restore the operation of the fan coil and filter in your window system.
An Alliance Eco-Clean service is recommended for your system at least every alternate year, to keep it in top operating condition. That’s because it best prepares your window AC for high heat loads during summer and the need for consistent warm air during winter.
Maintenance
Regular HVAC maintenance ensures your system operates at its full potential with minimal wear and tear. Window wall-mounted systems often sit in the framing of your home’s windows, exposing them to outside elements. Hence, scheduled maintenance is also crucial for extending the life of the air conditioning system.
The convenience of having all components in a single unit makes this an efficient job when performed by Alliance. So, schedule a visit from one of our local technicians and enjoy the following features of professional maintenance:
- Extending your unit’s warranty
- Lowering overall energy costs
- More reliable performance over the seasons
- Prevention against future issues
- Reduced number of AC breakdowns
- Visit from a licensed electrician for any additional installation work

- Oscillating vanes provided in the cabinet direct conditioned air within the room from side to side or up and down, providing flexible airflow as needed
- The unit can often be plugged directly into a normal single-phase household power point, meaning no additional electrical services are required
- Operations are known to be quiet, with sound levels not exceeding 50Dba to create a tranquil environment
- The simplicity of the model and its accompanying services often makes it more cost-effective both short- and long-term than other systems

Frequently Asked Questions
While it’s possible to install window air conditioners yourself due to their simplified design, it’s really not recommended. AC installation is best done by experienced professionals to limit potential damage or danger in a household.
Contact Alliance Climate Control to access reliable window air conditioner installation that lasts a lifetime.
The cost of installing window air conditioners depends on multiple factors, including: the unit’s size, the amount of installation work, the addition of HVAC features, the electrical work required, the condition of the window framing, and more.
Fortunately, Alliance provides upfront quotes for all installation work. We work with you to determine which window AC fits your budget for efficiency in installation.
If you have an existing standard household outlet within reach of your installed window AC, you likely won’t need a licensed electrician for the job. However, you may need to consider a professional’s aid if the unit’s too large for the outlet’s capacity, it needs more energy, or a new outlet needs to be added.
Our team also contains trained electricians capable of fulfilling these window air conditioning installation needs.
Since a window unit is typically used to cool or warm a singular room, they are often cheaper to run than other, more extensive AC systems. Yet, if you are interested in cooling or heating an entire home with window ACs, this may begin to add up more than other systems.
With regular professional maintenance, window air conditioners generally last between 8-10 years. The exact length differs depending on the quality of the unit, its environment, and other factors such as continuous use or a lack of cleaning.
Due to the need to install window ACs into window openings, this can create a blockage of natural airflow and sunlight. Once installed, window units are also non-portable, making them more inflexible than their simple design would suggest.
Additionally, these systems are usually only suitable for climate control of a single room. So, if you want a more adaptable or expansive AC system, consider discussing your HVAC needs with Alliance.
While it’s not overall bad to leave them running if it’s necessary for your comfort, some disadvantages come from operating a window AC throughout the day include:
- Higher energy bills
- Increased wear and tear of AC components, possibly leading to expensive repairs and/or a shorter lifespan
- Risk of components freezing up if constantly cooling, and alternatively overheating if pushing out warm air
If you want to use an AC running all day, discuss your potential options with the HVAC experts at Alliance. We can help you find the best match for your air conditioning needs.
