Power Points
Power points, or General Power Outlets (GPOs) as they are sometimes called usually require a hardwire installation and sometimes by a qualified electrician. Power points come in several styles, designs and configurations to suit a wide variety of applications.
Single, double, triple or even quad configurations are readily available, some are provided with USB outlets for charging digital devices, some with a supplementary switch to control a light or fan or some may even have a pilot light to show when the power point is on and live.
As our lifestyle embraces outdoor living areas, BBQ’s and swimming pools, our need for power points, resistant to adverse weather conditions, has also been realised. For this reason, many weatherproof power points are also available to enhance a relaxed outdoor lifestyle.
Other variations of indoor power points include WIFI remote features, particularly useful where electrical power can be remotely controlled for standby devices or other purposes, some with timers to operate within certain time intervals, even floor-mounted or benchtop mounted models that remain concealed until needed.

What Our Community
Is Saying About Alliance
Ivan, Ben, and Can did a terrific job installing my air conditioner into an apartment where little thought had been given by the architect to where the conduit for an air conditioner might be installed. I was very impressed by their perseverance and professionalism. Many thanks!
The service technician arrived on time. He was courteous, pleasant, competent, did a thorough job, carried out the work competently, was very organised, worked safely and maintained a clean worksite both inside and outside the property.
A pleasure to have this quality of service!!!
B.J,Theo and James installed units in 2 bedrooms upstairs and an inverter outside. They did a great job and had it done in one day.
We also had 2 other unots serviced and cleaned by TK and Eric who were thorough and gave us maintenance tips. The quote from Kody was spot-on and heaps betyer than the main competitor.
I had a split air con unit installed in my apartment by Alliance last week. Yunun and his team did a fantastic job from start to finish. They were friendly, professional and ensured that the unit, compressor, cabling and ducting was installed neatly and blended in with the surroundings. They left my apartment in showroom condition after they finished! I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.
Update – April 2026:
Andre G came out to complete the annual maintenance on my aircon under job #105771, which Alliance installed last year. The unit was particularly dusty inside, and Andre carried out a thorough service and deep clean. He was professional, meticulous, and explained each step clearly in advance. He did a terrific job and left the apartment spotlessly clean. Thanks again to the Alliance team for consistently great service.
Great experience! All the staff are extremely professional. It’s obvious the company has invested a lot into tech and their process to give a great customer experience. Special mention to Gabriel, BJ and Zac for their help!
Ivan led the team with Mosa, Zac and electrician Mohamed. Two split units installed and condenser placed neatly at the back.
Process was smooth from start to finish. Clear quote, easy scheduling, no surprises. They arrived at 7:15am and finished by 3pm.
Old heritage terrace, not an easy job. They adapted on site and improved a couple of original decisions. Final result is better because of that.
Workmanship is clean. Conduits through the roof cavity are tidy, indoor units fit well above the windows, and the outdoor unit is discreet.
Ivan communicated clearly throughout and set everything up on our phones at the end.
Professional team. Good execution. Would highly recommend.
Their knowledge and service lead to an install that was a day shorter and significantly cheaper than quoted. This was completely unexpected after another local company couldn't be bothered to tell me my project was beyond their skill level and ghosted me without providing a quote.
Jason was able to avoid cutting into our ceiling which was amazing after preparing ourselves for a significant patch and paint job.
They are professional, fast and everyone I had contact with was eager to help.
If anyone even slightly mentions air con or an aircon issue I'll be recommending Alliance.
Turned up on time, knowledgeable technicians.
All very tidy too, with everything, even the old fans taken away - great work, thanks Charles and team!
Good humoured in spite of having to climb stairs because of broken lift.
Everyone we dealt with — VJ, Eric, Brody, Mosd, Harry K and Ionnaes — was friendly, knowledgeable, professional and always punctual. They were respectful of our home and took the time to explain everything clearly, which gave us a lot of confidence in their work.
We really appreciated the trusted advice provided throughout — it never felt like a sales push, just honest recommendations tailored to what we needed.
The operations were also very well organised. From the initial booking, through to installation and final payment, everything ran smoothly and on schedule.
Highly recommend this team if you’re looking for a reliable and professional air conditioning company.
Update. March 2026
AGAIN! We had an outstanding experience with Alliance Climate Control, thanks to Gabriel & Nicolas.
They were extremely professional from start to finish; quickly diagnosed and resolved all of our air conditioning issues with confidence and precision. What really stood out was how informative they were, I was clearly explained the problems, the solutions, and how to prevent future issues.
The attention to detail, efficiency, and friendly approach made the entire process seamless. It’s rare to come across someone so knowledgeable and genuinely committed to great service.
A huge thank you to Gabriel and Nicolas; outstanding service.
USB Power Outlets
Most of our portable digital devices are charged via USB power points. Most homes have at least one smartphone that uses a USB cable. However, to charge these devices you’ll need to bring your bulky adapter first.
But those days are over, there are more options than ever before. You can now charge your devices directly into a USB power port in the wall. That means no more bulky adapters taking up a whole outlet that can be used for something else. Plus, by charging your devices directly into an electrical receptacle means that your device can charge up to 40% faster than using an adapter.
What can Alliance offer?
Generally, when an electrician visits your home and hardwires a power point, either indoor or outdoor, they will provide a double outlet for convenience. However, triple or quad indoor power points are just as easy to install on request and less expensive if specified initially rather than revisiting later to modify the installation.
With such a wide variety of power points available, it is better to consult with a credible supplier or installer to help you choose the best option for your home and lifestyle.
Alliance Climate Control with an advantage over a “bricks and mortar supplier” can provide that assistance at your home and with our Master Electricians are always mobile in and around Sydney. They are always accessible to help you decide the best, and safest, power point options for your home either during construction, renovation or any other time you need advice.
Our Master Electricians can advise the best options to satisfy your building or “reno” plans while ensuring electrical safety. Our Master Electrician will:
- Recommend the best power point style and finish according to your plans and preference
- Check all electrical load applied to the circuit to ensure your electrical safety is guaranteed
- Inspect your switchboard to make sure that suitable circuit breakers and safety switches are installed

Prevent Misuse Of Power Points
Electrical power is so versatile, enhancing the convenience of our modern lives. However, if an electrical circuit becomes overloaded because too many devices are operating at the same time, the consequences can become catastrophic.
The most common misuse of wall power points is to connect multiple outlet power boards to each power point outlet. While appliances with low power requirements may not affect such as chargers or digital devices, these generally are not operated at the same time and cause little concern, typically failing to reach the maximum ampere value of the circuit.
However, if each outlet is connected to heating appliances, for example, an electric kettle, toaster, microwave oven and hot iron at the same time, it’s likely to overload the circuit and either blow the fuse or trip the circuit breaker or safety switch as may be fitted.
Another common misuse of power points is to disregard any arc flashing or crackling from a damaged power point connecting an appliance. This indicates a severe problem with the power point or wiring supplying power to the appliance and may blow the fuse or trip the circuit breaker/safety switch.
An additional fault might occur if wiring supplying electricity to a power point becomes wet behind the wall which may be due to a leaking roof or leaking water pipe.
Each of these symptoms require urgent attention. Any power points on the same circuit should also not be used until they have been checked by a professional electrician.
Electrical injury is a dire consequence of insufficient electrical safety and it is important to protect any potentially live power point from curious children who might inadvertently poke the live terminal with a metallic prod. This might cause severe injury or death in certain circumstances. An effective means to safeguard young children is to cover the power point outlets with a “dummy “plug or to fit a “latch cover” over the power point.
Your Master Electrician can always advise the most suitable power point type to ensure your preferred lifestyle and safeguard the safety of your family.
