The true character and values of a company — and its people — are often best tested when things do not go according to plan.
That was certainly the case with Job 108330 – the installation of our new ducted HVAC system.
Accidents can happen, even with the best teams. On the second day of the installation, my ornate ceiling was accidentally stepped through, significantly damaging one of its key decorative features.
The installation team, who had impressed me from the start of the day with their professionalism and confidence, were visibly shaken by what had happened. Despite this, they gathered themselves and continued the work professionally.
Yunus, the team leader, was understandably upset, but remained remarkably calm and collected. What impressed me particularly was the way he continued to treat his team members with respect despite the pressure of the situation.
He apologised to me and repeatedly assured me that Alliance CC would support me until the matter was resolved and I was 100% satisfied.
Everyone was upset that day, and I am sure the management of Alliance CC was as well.
What happened afterwards, however, is the reason I am writing this review.
There were no “ifs”, “buts” or excuses from Alliance CC. They accepted responsibility for the damage and set about putting it right.
Alliance arranged for two specialist ornate-ceiling plasterers to assess the damage and provide quotations. After approximately six weeks, the ceiling was repaired to an acceptable standard, as close as reasonably possible to its original condition.
It is when something goes wrong that statements about company values are truly put to the test. In this case, the experience demonstrated to me that Alliance CC genuinely lives by the values it promotes — being like a family through care, respect and integrity; being honest and owning mistakes even when it is difficult; striving for excellence; and working hard and giving 100%.
Yunus — thank you for being an exemplary leader: calm, collected and reassuring when those qualities were needed most. Leadership like that is much easier when you know you are backed by a company that will stand behind its people and its commitments.
Con, Veysel, Loannis, Brody and Brandon — thank you for being hardworking, knowledgeable, willing to learn, respectful, courteous and clean throughout the installation.
Charles, the sparky — thank you for rewiring and cleaning up the distribution board, making sure that it was not only neat but, most importantly, safe.
James — thank you for following this job through from beginning to end. I am sure it is a relief for everyone to see it finally reaching a successful conclusion.
And to the management of Alliance CC — thank you for caring about the outcome, accepting responsibility when something went wrong, and standing behind your commitment to ensure that I was satisfied.
A company should not be judged solely by whether something ever goes wrong. Sometimes the better measure is what it does when something does go wrong.
On that measure, Alliance CC has earned my respect.
