Why the switch to LED downlights?

The cost of goods and services is rising with each passing day. It is for this reason that many people, especially homeowners are looking for ways to save on the extra costs they incur within their home. One of the most effective ways to save at home is in the lighting of the house.

When you are looking for ways to downlight your house, LED downlights is the way to go. This is because the cost of lighting your house with LED lights is significantly lower and therefore the bills are cheaper. However, the cheaper running cost is not the only advantage of using LED lighting in your home. There are several other major advantages of using LED downlights in place of halogen downlights.

Energy cost is significantly lower

A good example to illustrate the difference in cost of LED downlights as compared to halogen downlights is indicated as follows; One halogen light uses 50 watts. This, with 10 halogen downlights, has an estimated cost of $458.40 per year. On the other hand, one LED light uses 6 watts. With 10 LED downlights, the estimated cost will amount to $55.20 per year. From this information, the annual savings you will be making by choosing LED downlights over halogen lights is $403.20 per year!

LED lights emit a very cool light and can be used in homes that have artwork on the walls. The light is also not destructive to fabrics and does not cause fading. This is very important because it ensures that the lights can be used in any room of the house without having to take precautionary measures.

– LED lights to lower the risk of fires

Contrary to halogen lights that emit up to 200AC, LED lights are relatively cool and produce up to 40AC. This way, using halogen lights, may lead to fire damage in the house especially when they come into contact with cables. Needless to say, LED lighting is a step towards ensuring fire safety within your home

– LED lights do not damage artwork

This is very important because it ensures that the lights can be used in any room of the house without having to take precautionary measures.

– LED lights are cheaper and easier to maintain

Halogen lights have a habit of ‘blowing” every now and then. It is for this reason that there is always the need to get new lamps from the electronics shop to replace the ‘blown” ones. LED lights, on the other hand, are very durable and can stay up to 10 years without requiring a replacement. This makes them cheaper to maintain, even though their initial cost is higher than that of the halogen lights.

– LED lights are Eco-friendly

LED lights use less energy compared to halogen lights which means less carbon dioxide emissions to the environment.
